This is a terrific spot if you are staying in San Diego in the gaslamp District. It's an old building that has been beautifully maintained. There are suites that were unfortunately booked but we got a lovely room that is well appointed, beautifully kept up and clean. My only word of caution is that the restaurants and bars along fifth Avenue can be very noisy but I brought a sound machine that I bought on amazon.com and it blocked out all noise at night so we slept just fine! The hotel has a gorgeous rooftop that has eight tables and chairs and umbrellas and is so wonderful. I have sat up there every day to read and just get the sun and fresh air. Highly recommend this hotel.

Entrance is deceiving, beautiful crystal chandeliers. Old fashioned gate and door evevator is very quaint, if you like that kind of thing. Heavy and noisy. The rooms are diabolical. First room had no sun light…moved to 8th floor, same disgusting room. No upgrades available, all rooms are the same. Three days of no showers, there was only hot water in the sink. Telephone didn’t work, carpets are filthy, no tv remote, air con was so noisy we turned it off,but then realized the noise was coming from a massive contraption that runs outside the window, the sound compares to a train running all night. Receptionist, although very courteous simply said it was an historic building and they will be renovating soon. Avoid this place, the price is comparable to nicer hotels.

Great location near the gaslamp, parking on scene is a big nope but there is a great structure nearby called "park it on market" I was able to park before checking in for a one night stay and get in my car the next afternoon for $16 total, well worth it. Check in was fun asf, free house bevvy to start the experience is absolutely my vibe, and standard drink prices were decent for the setting, love Love LOVE the games and general house party vibe. The room, was.... Tiny, and guess what? Still more comfy than the hoody your ex won't give back. Can see that the design is meant for people who have more in life happening then the square footage of their room. Perfect for a couple nights though I can see it getting weird on a long term stay. No view expect some weird lights in the main corridor, but if not for those lights I daresay i might have spotted some flesh from another persons room, so smart design choice there. No breakfast makes me sad, I wouldn't have eaten it anyway but I want my money's worth you know??? (gotta love that some people won't read the sarcasm there.) But considering the amount of local places to grab any kind of grub you could wish upon a star, I think most will be able to survive not being served a buffet of cheap over touched food. will be back!

Located in San Diego's center, this is a cosy and friendly place to stay. The facilities are very clean and the staff is super friendly. I really enjoyed my one- week stay. Pubs, restaurants and public transportation are close by and so Gaslamp Hostel is the perfect starting point for San Diego adventures.

Tough one. The hotel is lovely and the service is from another time - every single staff member was exceptionally helpful and kind. Lee Ann at concierge and Alex at front desk come to mind but I mean it - the bar, restaurant, valet, everyone was just lovely. The hotel public areas are also gorgeous and the restaurant and bar very good. Amuse bouche at breakfast? Ok. However, two strikes: one, you’re in San Diego but there is no place to sit outside. Also, it’s true, the homeless population is huge and sad; although I never saw any street people in the lobby as other reviewers mentioned and frankly that seems far-fetched. Also, I felt safe as a single woman walking in the neighborhood but I wasn’t out late at night. Our room was upgraded to 10th floor and the bed was amazingly comfortable (Frette linens) and no issues with size, noise or bathroom. So overall - very comfy room, fantastic hospitality and f&b, transitional area and no outdoors. You decide.

The hotel’s location is right in the heart of the city and there are many restaurants nearby. Crab Hut is next door to the hotel and it takes only 6 or 7 minutes to walk to the online shop, Breakfast Republic. It is also a valet parking. The lobby is grand and the building is historic. The shortcoming of this type of hotel is that the facilities are too old, the bathroom is small, the toilet is next to the rain, and the sink is outside, very small. We stayed on the 14th floor and the ventilation of the bathroom was very noisy. The hotel said it was because we were living in the vents. Of course, the hotel also proposed to change rooms, we did not change the trouble.

We stayed two night in this hotel at the beginning of our West Coast road trip. We had high hopes from the beautiful picture and information given on the website. Sadly none of this information told us that the bar and restaurant were closed, the receipt in lobby was undergoing renovation work. The pool deck area was clearly also being redone and was quite cramped. You have a $10 per night f&b credit, but the restaurant/ba is now a makeshift affair with very little on offer - and we paid nearly $10 for two cans of coke! Good location in the Gas Lamp Quarter with plenty of restaurants nearby and a teeny minute walk to the marina and Seaport Village. The room was nicely appointed but filthy. There are hard floors and the whole room had a grimy gritty layer of dirt and dust over it. The bedside tables and dresser were dirty on top - something sticky and funky all over the bedside clock radio. See photo of face cloth we used to wipe surfaces down (tables and counter tops not the floor - this would have needed a whole heap of cloths to wipe!) the bathroom was nice but the sliding door was frosted glass meaning that when someone paid a visit in the night, the light shine into the room and woke the other partner up! Would we stay here again - probably not. Too many issue. Not happy.

Parking Taitmagui 50 knives around several parking lots are not the same price, but overnight, if it is half past two in the middle of the night, and I have seen a pit that has never seen such a pit, who can set a bed that is absolutely enough. Too small, the price is not high, the distance from the Midway Aircraft Carrier is 1.5 kilometers.

Hotel location is good Hotel service is also good Personally feel that breakfast is good No need to eat lunch, although there are not many types of breakfast, but I do not think it meets the taste. I was on the first floor. The opposite room was a noisy room. At first I thought it was noisy, but it was OK. There was no one at night, but I loved the road and it was a bit noisy at night, but I still had no problem sleeping. The hotel did not charge any fees. Friends who were traveling were charged US $ 13 and did n’t know what it was, but said they would return it. The hotel had paid parking for US $ 24 a night. The city of San Diego is just a little more homeless. Just stay away from them. Generally speaking, the hotel stay is cost-effective and the price is not expensive.

The location is great, in the gaslamp quarter. About half an hour walk from the famous Balboa Park. It is not too far from the port of San Diego. Many bars and restaurants downstairs. Good is very convenient, and bad is very noisy at night. The choice for nightlife is right here. The music downstairs is a lot of Latin and there are street bands. Okay. The staff were very welcoming. Will organize a city tour.Breakfast is average, no milk. The decoration is very unique, the patio is very warm, but unfortunately there is no time to enjoy.Washing clothes one dollar at a time, drying one dollar.Would consider here if I return.

A VERY MEDIOCRE ESTABLISHMENT. NOTE. THIS HOTEL DOES NOT OFFER ANY KIND OF ROOM HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE. I checked and was informed that even though I will be here for several days there is no housekeeping service. when I asked why, the front Desk attendant said it was because of COVID. I understand that we all have had to make adjustments due to this terrible pandemic, but how come the cost of the hotel was not adjusted to reflect the fact that the service was being withheld? No where on the website or during the reservation process was this fact mentioned. I am also not clear how the Pandemic stops a business from offering a service that is crucial but allows that business to continue to receive payment for it.
